Stormwater Awareness Week Nov. 9 -16
Did you know that Nov. 9-16, is Stormwater Awareness Week in Washington?
You’ve probably seen the “Protect Water – Only Rain In Drain” medallions beside storm drains in our community. These medallions serve as an important reminder that every one of us plays a role in protecting water by preventing stormwater pollution. Approximately 80% of pollutants in our waterways come from stormwater runoff and simple actions like using a commercial car wash, picking up after your pet or reducing fertilizers and pesticides can make a big difference for our local streams and lakes. The Washington Stormwater Center is offering free webinars throughout the week about protecting water and creative approaches to educating our community about this topic.
