City of Camas to Begin Application Process to Fill Carter’s Vacant Council Seat

In response to the February 7, resignation of Camas City Council Member Bonnie Carter, the City of Camas will begin accepting applications to fill the vacant Ward 2, Position 1 seat.

The term of this appointment, for the vacated Council Member position, is anticipated to run April 2025, thru November 25, 2025 (unfulfilled term end). If the successful candidate is interested in continuing to serve as a Council Member, they would need to run in November 2025 for the position’s unexpired 2-year term. Candidates interested in running for this office, should check with Clark County Elections for the filing dates. The phone number for the elections department is (564) 397‐2345. Applicants must be a resident of the City of Camas, Ward 2, and must be a registered voter. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 14, 2025.

At the Feb. 18, 2025 Camas City Council meeting, Mayor Steve Hogan will appoint Council Members to work with the City Administrator as the ad-hoc committee to oversee the appointment process, with the goal of having the position filled by the April 21, 2025 Council meeting, well in advance of the May 8, 2025 deadline, which per statute would require the appointment to be then made by the Clark County Council.
