Library Bees!

Did you know that the Camas Library has its own beehive? The hive is located in a tree on the Southeast corner of our block. If you look up, you should see a painted purple box where the bees live. We love our bees and have adopted the bee as our mascot. Here are some facts about bees as well as some additional resources where you can learn more about bees and beekeeping

Camas-Washougal Fire Department

Welcome to the Camas-Washougal Fire Department (CWFD)

The Camas and Washougal Fire Departments are consolidated as one agency through a contract for service, providing both fire, fire prevention and emergency medical services to our citizens. We also provide emergency medical services to citizens outside city limits along with mutual aid fire protection to neighboring departments.

Cemetery

About the Cemetery

In 1883, the Camas Colony Company, formed by Oregonian publisher Henry Pittock and a group of investors, sought land near La Camas Lake on which to establish a paper mill that would produce newsprint for the Oregonian. The company plotted the cemetery in 1885, shortly after establishment of the mill, but their temporary layout markers were lost, and eventually so too were the plats. Although there is uncertainty over the early years, many believe the land the cemetery now occupies was originally owned by Donald Stearns, a close associate of Pittock.
