The City of Camas has adopted a City Strategic Plan to provide guidance and leadership through the next three years. Each year, the Strategic Plan will be reviewed to highlight achievements and to assure the plan is progressing.
Our Mission
The City of Camas commits to preserving its heritage, sustaining and enhancing a high quality of life for all its citizens and developing the community to meet the challenges of the future.
The City of Camas has several boards and commissions that citizens can volunteer to serve on. Volunteers who serve on these boards and commissions are a vital component to the success of local government. Individuals who serve on boards and commissions are from a variety of occupational and community interest backgrounds. These positions are uncompensated and only Camas residents are eligible to apply.
To see what City boards, committees and commissions citizens can volunteer to serve on to the Boards and Commissions menu.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! When our community comes together, we thrive together. There are many ways to get involved, in a variety of departments and assignments. All volunteers must first complete a Volunteer Services Interest form, located here. Each department will have different openings and volunteer needs at any given time.
The City requires an individual to obtain a vehicle restoration permit if they own a vehicle that has been declared a public nuisance/junk vehicle and meets any of the following categories:
All businesses located within the city limits whose service is to provide vehicles for hire (including limousines, taxicabs, and/or vans) must obtain a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. An application can be obtained online or in person at City Hall. The completed form must be submitted to the Finance Department between the hours of 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., M-F.
Upon submission of a completed application, a public hearing will be set whereupon the City Council will issue a decision for approval or denial of the application.
A solicitor/hawker/peddler license is required for each individual who may go from home to home, on City streets or sidewalks, or other public places within the city limits to sell or solicit orders for goods. Licenses do not cover the business; each person selling on behalf of a business must have an individual license.
A pawnbroker/secondhand dealer’s license is required for any individual who wishes to engage in the business of loaning money on the security of pledges, deposits or conditional sales of personal property; or buying or selling secondhand personal property, metal junk or melted metals.
In 2019 local historian, Virginia Warren, donated 3 volumes of her scrapbook collection to the Library. These scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, information, and photos documenting Camas-area history. As part of the Centennial Celebrations, we are ecstatic to present digitizations of Virginia's historical work for all to read.
The City of Camas requires a license for businesses located within city limits or conducting business within city limits. If you are not sure if you will do business within the city limits, please review Camas Municipal Code (CMC) 5.02.010 G to determine whether your business activities meet the requirements for a license.
Camas Municipal Code requires that all dogs over the age of six months within the city limits be licensed. The license is good for the lifetime of the dog, and should be kept on the dog’s collar at all times.
