Groovy Fun Awaits Kids at Camas Public Library’s Annual Book Celebration
The Camas Public Library invites children and families to keep it cool Friday, May 16, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., at their annual spring children’s book event, “Pete the Cat’s Groovy Celebration.” Inspired by the beloved books by James Dean and Eric Litwin, this event promises an afternoon of crafts, games and an exciting dance party to show off participants’ best Pete the Cat moves.
Since his first appearance in 2008, Pete the Cat has become a beloved staple of children’s literature, captivating the hearts and minds of all ages – including patrons of the Camas Public Library. Young readers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a groovy world inspired by Pete the Cat books.
“We love bringing books to life through events like this,” said Library Director, Connie Urquhart. “Pete the Cat’s message of staying positive and embracing creativity is one we’re excited to share with our community – it’s a fun and meaningful way to support the connections and enrichment at the heart of our mission.”
Attendees can take part in activities such as making the “perfect” paper pizza and going on a hunt for Pete’s groovy buttons. As they complete each activity, children will collect stamps in their Pete the Cat-themed passport and be entered into a raffle for a chance to win prizes.
The event is funded by the Friends & Foundation of the Camas Library and is free to attend. No registration is required.
