Fire Permits

The Camas-Washougal Fire Department administers fire and life safety regulations for all properties within the Camas and Washougal city limits. Permits must be obtained from the Fire Marshal's Office (FMO) for construction-related permits including but not limited to new construction, alteration, demolition, new occupancies, changes of occupancies, and installation of fire alarm and/or fire suppression systems.

The department also issues permits for operational activities in compliance with state law and the International Fire Code (IFC) for activities including but not limited to fireworks, explosives, hazardous materials storage, underground tank removal, compressed gasses, hot work, spray finishing, storage of high-piled combustible materials, and all other activities that are deemed hazardous by the Fire Marshal.

How to Apply for a Permit with the Camas-Washougal Fire Department

Permit Applications are available for download (below) or can be obtained at the Fire Marshal's Office located at 605 NE 3rd Avenue in Camas. Completed applications are to be submitted with 2 sets of plans and specifications and/or any other information as may be necessary to determine compliance with fire and life safety codes and standards.

Permit applications may be submitted to the Fire Marshal's Office:

  • In person (Monday- Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm)
  • Via US Mail (Mailing Address - 616 NE 4th Ave., Camas)
  • Via Fax: 360-834-8866 (only available for applications that do not require submission of large files/drawings such as Residential Sprinkler Systems)

Time sensitive permit applications are given priority and all others are reviewed and processed in the order received.
