Don Chaney is serving his third term as a City Council member. His term runs through December 31, 2019.
Don has been a resident of Camas since 1973. Don retired in 2008, after 35 years of service with the Camas Police Department. His last ten years were served as Chief of Police.
Don graduated from Evergreen High in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 during the Vietnam era and served overseas in South Korea. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Clark Community College in 1972. He earned various supervisory and management certificates during his employment culminating in an Executive Management Certificate from Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
Don has served on various community boards & committees over his time in Camas including the Camas School Board between 1992 thru 1998. Don and his wife Linda owned and operated Smitty’s Restaurant from 1978-1981 and The Guest House Motel in Vancouver from 1985 thru 2001. He was a coach on the CHS Girl’s State Champion Softball Team in 2003.
Don and Linda have three adult children as well as two grandchildren all raised and still residing in the Camas community. He enjoys spending time with family & friends, playing golf, computers, and is a proud 25-year Trailblazers season ticket holder.
Don has been appointed to the following committees for 2018:

- Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA) for small cities
- Serving as Board Chair since 2009
- East County Ambulance Advisory Board, alternate liaison
- Finance Committee
- Fire - Joint Policy Advisory Committee (JPAC)
- LEOFF Disability Board
- Mayor Pro-Tem
- Shoreline Management Review Committee
Don also served as Mayor Pro-tem in 2013.
